Not surprised, but blown away by the beautiful written art!

Updated: 2 days ago

There’s some amazing talent out there, folks. I’m reading over the original pieces of written art that have come in so far, and I’m blown away. Some cards have a single sentence, while others have found creative ways to fill the entire 5x7 space - front and back. Some are accompanied by drawings, cut-outs, and stickers. Many are simply filled with beautiful text. A couple have only a few, poignant words. They are all filled with insights. Each one is powerful. And they all have a genuine message direct from the writer’s heart.

Some of my favorite things about the written art cards submitted so far by writers taking part in the Little Written Art project:

Depth. I’m impressed by how much depth is held in these little pieces of writing. There are incredible insights offered in the written art – from unique perspectives, to learned lessons, to heartfelt dreams and ideas.

Diversity. The dozens of cards in front of me represent incredible diversity. They have been created by writers from a variety of backgrounds, geographical locations, and styles.

Honesty. My favorite part is that the heart of individual writers comes through. These writers have written from the heart. They have things to say, and the written art captures snapshots of their unique voices.

Each of the Little Written Art cards is a unique piece of art that I am honored and excited to share with our growing network of Little Free Library owners. I can hardly wait for them to be available to readers at the community level across the United States – and beyond.
